The manufacturer's visit, REX+ and the master talks series

Hello everyone. As you already know, this newsletter is the communication bridge that will keep you informed of the most important things happening inside our organization. We want to build community, and we want everyone who is part of the day to day to have an official place to find out what matters.

As part of our ongoing commitment to technical development and continual improvement, we recently hosted at our premises an industrial mechanical engineer specializing in dynamic balancing of rail rotors, who travelled directly from China to share his experience and knowledge with our team, as the official representative of the brand of equipment we currently use in our workshop.

During his visit we ran an on-site review of how our machines perform and of the processes around balancing, identifying opportunities for improvement and for technical development among our staff. The visit made it possible to reinforce knowledge, review practices and move forward on optimizing our processes, bringing in specialist experience straight from the manufacturer of the equipment.

As a result of this experience, we also agreed to request a quotation for new specialist equipment, which will let us keep expanding our capabilities and raising the standard of our services and the quality of our products. This is how we keep bringing in knowledge, all-round experience and key technologies to take our standards to the next level.

A few weeks ago we began implementing REX+, our new people management system, which is currently in a pilot phase while the whole team gets used to it.

Bringing in this tool is meant to simplify and organize a number of internal processes, centralizing information and giving better operational support to the different areas of the company. During this first stage we will get to know what it can do, resolve doubts and make the adjustments needed to fit it better and better to our reality and our needs.

REX+ is not meant to be an extra burden, but a tool that lets us work more efficiently, in a more organized and connected way, and that makes the job of our new people management lead easier.

Whether it works well also depends on all of us. So we invite every member of the team to get familiar with the platform and to use this stage to contribute their questions, observations and suggestions. That is how we keep adding tools that let us grow in an orderly way and get ready for the company's new challenges.

During August our company started a series of training sessions run together with Mutual de Seguridad, the occupational safety mutual we are affiliated with. The programme covers our entire team across four training sessions, with the last one scheduled for Thursday 27 August.

These sessions are there to reinforce the knowledge and the judgment needed to identify, prevent and control the risks present in our daily work, strengthening a safety culture that involves everyone. We thank everyone who has taken part and we invite you to keep making prevention a shared responsibility.

Our company is developing a new documentation platform aimed at preserving, organizing and projecting the technical knowledge that has been built up over decades through the experience of our specialists.

The project, led by our processes and continual improvement manager, Felipe Alarcón Mena, sets out to document the procedures, methodologies and core technical knowledge of our industry, bringing in new technologies, international perspectives and tools that strengthen the training of the next generations of rail professionals.

Knowledge also has to be passed on inside our own organization. That is why we are running a series of Master Talks, in which our most experienced specialists share with the newer generations the knowledge, experience and lessons they have gathered over years of work on the ground.

These sessions are there to level up and strengthen internal technical knowledge, complementing the hands-on experience of the workshop with the learning of those who have devoted much of their lives to the rail world.

Every talk is being professionally filmed and recorded, and they will form part of the future Truckenergízate 2030 Audiovisual Library, so that this knowledge stays available for the generations to come. The project brings together three essential things: preserving our history, strengthening our present and projecting our future.

Because when knowledge is shared, the experience of one great generation can become the learning of many more.

Construction has begun on a new shed at our premises, which will house the new interpole laboratory, storage for motors both finished and in progress, and a new area for warehousing and supply.

On Tuesday 25 August an important meeting took place between our company and Universidad del Bío-Bío, with future strategic agreements in mind.

The meeting was made possible by the work of our public relations and community engagement lead, Carola Mena San Juan, whose efforts will open new avenues of collaboration between the two institutions and add value to our organization as a future host for degree projects and postgraduate programs of international standing.
