Truck Energy and Universidad del Bío-Bío open talks on a partnership

A first meeting at the Faculty of Engineering to explore collaboration agreements: degree projects, postgraduate programs and a workshop open to the people studying what we do here.

Truck Energy met with Universidad del Bío-Bío, at its Faculty of Engineering, to explore a collaboration agreement between the two institutions. It was a first conversation: nothing is signed yet, but there is a table set and a work agenda.

The meeting was arranged by Truck Energy's public relations and community engagement team. Getting a workshop from Coronel and a faculty of engineering into the same room does not happen on its own: somebody has to go and make it happen.

What was put on the table:

  • Truck Energy as a host for degree projects: theses written on real equipment, with real failures and real operating data.
  • The same door open to postgraduate programs, nationwide.
  • Collaboration running both ways: what the university researches and what the workshop sees every day are not the same knowledge, and neither replaces the other.

There is a concrete reason why this conversation is happening now and not five years ago. A workshop can only host someone writing a thesis if it is able to show them how it works: its written procedures, its acceptance criteria, its traceability. That is exactly the work Truck Energízate and La Biblioteca have been doing since the first procedure was published.

A traction motor that comes back to the workshop teaches something that is in no book, and a school of engineering has analytical tools a workshop rarely gets to apply on its own. The conversation is only starting, but there is somewhere for the exchange to go.

  • Both teams posing together in the faculty council room, in front of the wooden wall with framed portraits of former deans
  • General view of the meeting: academics and Truck Energy technicians seated around the U-shaped table of the council room
  • A member of the Truck Energy team, in a company jacket, listening with her hands clasped on the table
  • Truck Energy technician in a company shirt explaining with his hands during the meeting, beside another member of the team
