First international technical training on dynamic balancing

An engineer from Shanghai Jianping, the manufacturer of the workshop's balancing machines, came to Coronel to see the machines at work, review the processes and train the staff.

Truck Energy hosted its first international technical training. Mr. Zou came over, a specialist engineer in dynamic balancing of rail rotors from Shanghai Jianping Dynamic Balancing Machine Manufacturing Co., the manufacturer of the balancing machines the workshop uses every day.

Having the manufacturer come over is not the same as reading their manual. He saw the machines working under real load, on the rotors that actually get repaired in Coronel, and not on a prepared demonstration.

What the two days covered:

  • How the balancing machines behave on site, with the workshop's own rotors and armatures mounted on them.
  • A review of the current processes and where precision was being lost.
  • Upskilling of the staff who operate the equipment, directly at the console.

The visit also produced an agreement to purchase new specialist equipment. The reason is the usual one: finer balancing means a motor that comes back fewer times.

  • Truck Energy technician operating the balancing machine with a copper-wound rotor mounted between the supports
  • Operator at the balancing machine console, with the measurement screen on
  • The visiting engineer and a Truck Energy technician inspecting the shaft of a traction motor armature resting on the workshop floor
  • A group of Truck Energy technicians and the visiting engineer talking on their feet in the workshop during the process review
